Distributing a Cover Song

What You Need First #

Before releasing a cover song, you must secure a cover license. This license allows you to legally distribute a song written by another songwriter.

• A one-time license fee applies for each cover song.

After License Approval #

• Once approved, your account will show that the cover song is cleared.
• You can then upload and submit the release like any other track.

• This document is optional and not required for distribution.

Important Notes #

• The cover song must not change the original lyrics or melody.
• You must fully own the recording you upload.
• The license only covers distribution, not ownership of the original song.
