How to Upload Apple Music Motion Artwork

ChilClick supports delivery of Motion Artwork to Apple Music, allowing your release to display animated visuals that increase visibility and listener engagement.
Motion Artwork can be uploaded directly during the release submission process.

What Is Apple Music Motion Artwork? #

Motion Artwork is an animated visual used by Apple Music to enhance album and release artwork.

Each release requires two separate video files, designed for different screen types:

• Square (1:1): Used on desktop, tablets, and smart TVs
• Vertical (3:4): Used on mobile devices

Motion Artwork Requirements #

Before uploading, make sure your files meet the following rules:

• Two video files are required per release
• Resolutions:
  • 3840 × 3840 pixels (1:1)
  • 2048 × 2732 pixels (3:4)
• Files are checked for duration, frame rate, codec, and color space
• Files that do not follow Apple Music standards will be rejected
• Motion Artwork becomes visible on the release date (or pre-order date, if applicable)
• Once delivered, Motion Artwork cannot be removed
• Motion Artwork is not supported for:
  • Music video releases
  • Artist profile pages

Motion Artwork Technical Specifications #

• Video formats:
  • H.264
  • Apple ProRes 422
  • Apple ProRes 4444
• File extension: .mp4 or .mov
• Frame rate: 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97, or 30 fps
• Color space: Rec. 709 or sRGB
• Duration: 8 to 35 seconds

How to Upload Motion Artwork #

1. Start or edit a release in your ChilClick dashboard
2. Go to the Artwork or Visuals section
3. Upload both Motion Artwork files (1:1 and 3:4)
4. Save and submit the release

Updating Motion Artwork #

If your release has already been delivered and you need to change the Motion Artwork, submit an edit request through the Help Center.

Important Notes #

• A static cover image is still required
• Final approval is handled by Apple Music
• Always review Apple Music Motion Artwork guidelines before uploading
