To meet YouTube Content ID rules, every audio file submitted must be linked to an official YouTube Art Track. This Art Track is the reference file YouTube uses to scan uploads and apply copyright claims.
Because Content ID automatically checks your audio against all videos on YouTube, only content that fully qualifies should be submitted. Uploading the wrong type of material can cause false claims and account issues.
Content That Qualifies #
Audio sent to YouTube Content ID must meet all of the following conditions:
- The recording is fully original
- You own exclusive rights to the sound recording
- The track duration is longer than 20 seconds
- The same audio is not managed or claimed by another distributor or partner
Only content that meets these rules can be accepted for Content ID.
Content That Is Not Allowed #
The following content types cannot be submitted to YouTube Content ID:
- Mashups, edits, or compilation tracks
- Remixes made from existing works
- Gameplay audio, screen recordings, or software visuals
- Music or video used without proper permission
- Cover songs or karaoke-style recordings
- Audio licensed without exclusivity
- Live recordings such as concerts, shows, or speeches
- Public domain recordings
- Content already delivered to YouTube by another service
- Tracks containing stock samples, loops, sound effects, or audio libraries
Submitting any of the above may result in rejection or incorrect copyright claims.
Important Notes #
Only upload audio to Content ID if you fully control the rights to the recording. YouTube applies strict checks, and violations may affect future submissions through ChilClick.
